last day

Today I organised the order folder.I had to put each form in order of date starting on the 17th in the 'to prepare' folder. Then I started filling ballons with sand to make weights;then I made all the weights for this weekend.After that I went around the shop and out things back in the corrects places and then I helped put new costumes out.

day five!

Today was my 5th day in Party Mad.The shop got a new counter put in during the weekend so I had to move all the boxes of balloons from the old counter and organise them under the new counter.Then I had to make weights for the orders for this week.I learnt to use the till today.I got to use it a couple of times by myself.

Week 4!

Today in work expericence I priced napkins,plates and cups and stacked them neatly on a shelf.Then I made some weights by pouring sand into balloons.After that I did what I did last week with the boxes for a while;then I went through the orders for next week and made the weights for them and put them in a bag with the correct colour ballons!

Today I had a very busy day.There was 20 boxes of new stock that I had to price and count;so firstly I had to unpack a box,then find the items code on a list then get its dollar price and convert it into euro and stick the sticker on the item and mark how many of each item was in each box(eg 10 hats).Then when I had priced and marked them off the list I had to put all the items in the box I had to put them all back into the box because they are not going out onto the shelves until after the sale.Then I started the next box and did the same thing.I got through 15 of the 20 boxes.

My Second Day!

Today I learned how to use the pricing gun!I got a list of items that where in a box and had to price each one and put it on a hook.I had to rearrange a wall to make room for the things from the box.When I had emptyed the box I had to make weights so I filled 96 ballons with sand.Then I helped get the orders ready;so I cut ribbion and put the weights together.Then I had to count ballons to put in bags for the orders for next week.

1st day of my 3rd work experience!

Today I started my work experienec in the local party shop called 'Party Mad'.
Today during my work experience I learned how to make weights to go on balloons.I had to cut lots of ribbion in differnt colours and then tie them onto the balloons filled with sand,then stick stickers on the and wrap them up and tie them with ribbion and curl the ribbion.Then I helped organise the costumes on the back wall.I had to take them all down and help put them back up with the other costumes that matched;for example I had to put all the nurse costumes and accessories together.Then I stacked party cups and put them on shelves beside the d napkins and plates that matched.After that I had to put the candles and balloons in order of age;so I had to put all the 1s together,all the 2s together and so on.
I had a good day and am looking forward to going back next week because I am going to be learning how ordering online works.

My Last Day in the Primary School :(

Today was my last day of my work experience in Scoil Naomh Bríd.
This morning I cut out letters for a sign for their new reading corner.Then I had to stick the sign up  at the back of the class.After I helped do mothers day art.Everyone did a picture for the front of their cards so I had to fold big sheets of paper and stick their pictures to the outside;then I had to stick a plain white A4 sheet inside the card for the girls to write their messages to their mams.Then they wrote out a poem and I had to stick the inside the card too.After that I swapped their readers and put their homework into folders.Just before going home I ruled some copies for the teacher.Then I gave her a thank you card and a box of sweets;and she gave me a thank you card,a box of sweets and my evaluation sheet.
I have really enjoyed this work experience placement;I have learnt lot and had lots of fun getting to know the senior infants and learning about primary school teacher.

Test Today!

Today the senior infants were doing a test so I didn't do much with them.This morning I had to cover all the classroom walls with black bin bags so they couldn't see any words on the walls.Then I helped the teacher move the tables,then I paired everyones pencil and the extra ones.After that I collected all the crayon bowls and everything on their desks.Then I put dividers in between each girl.When they were doing their test I ruled copies,put art in art folders and changed each girls reader for them.After the test I put the tables back,and collected the dividers.Then I mounted some of their art onto pink and purple paper and stuck them up on the walls after taking down all the bin bags.Then I had to cut out letters that said 'our spring flowers' and stick them onto yellow card and then onto the wall.

bust,busy,busy!

This morning I lined copies,took down some words and stuck up new ones,then I had to swap each girls book for a new one.Then I put up a new alphabet and covered the letters in plastic covers so they wouldn't get wet.After break I helped with art;I gave out paintbrushes and newspaper.There were a few girls form 6th class there so they helped me set up.Then I sat a the red table to help.They were making patterns using the tip of the paintbrush so I had to help them.Then I got to do some;I painted the title with the teacher.Then I had to paint and cut out a table,a ball,a book,a cylinder and kite.After lunch I cleaned up the paints and stuck up the new art.Then before I went home I put homework into folders and I also put art into art folders.

Chinese Dargon and Valentines Day Art!

Today I did my class was learning about the Chinese new year(this year is the year of the snake) so I did lots of art!I got to help make a dragon and do some valentines day art too.Firstly I had to paint some paper plates yellow(for the girls who were absent) and take some girls down to the art table to paint their plates,because they were making a Chinese dragon for the Chinese new year on Friday.Then I stapled everyones 2 plates together and wrote their names on them.After I took down some art at the back of the room.Then I had break.After break I went to the store room to get the step ladder and I took down all the alphabet posters and stuck up a writing wall;so I put up the heading 'our writing wall' and then stuck up 30 plastic polly pockets.Then I had lunch;after lunch I cut yellow,orange.black and red paper into strips and handed them out to each table.They used the strips of paper to decorate their paper plates so I had to help with the glue.Then They did valentines day art;so I had to punch holes in heart shapes and join them all together with ribbon.When the class went home I helped the teacher stick up all the hearts on the  windows.Then I stuck all the paper plates in a row and stapled crepe paper to the edges of them;then I put up the head of the dragon and the tale and when all the plates were in place they made up the body.

St Bridget

Today I did art.The class was reading the story of st Bridget and singing the song 'We Sing a Song to Bridget' so they were making a poster of her and her cloak growing.Firstly I had to go to the store room to get a big box of fabric;then I cut the fabric into squares.I called each table to come to the art table and work on the picture.I had to help them stick the fabric down,paint the grass,sponge the sky and stick crepe paper down for the clouds.When it came to home time I handed each girl their daffodil they planted a few weeks ago and helped them zip up their coats.When they had gone home I helped the teacher take down some old posters to make room for the picture of St Bridget.When the picture was up the teacher said that I could go because she had no other jobs for me so I got off earlier than normal.
I had a really good day today I even remember when I was in primary school when I used to sing the song 'We sing a Song to Bridget' and the picture I was helping with was a picture from my 6th class religion book!

Art

Today I did lots of art!This morning I had to go to the store room to get a box of material;then i cut out small squares of bright to use for art.Then I helped the helped the teacher get ready for art.(This week is water awareness week;so each class had to make a poster about saving water)I took 3 girls down to the back of the room to paint the poster,stick down fabric and bubble wrap.When the poster was done I had to go across to the shop and get Cocktail stick so they could make cubes.When I came back I had to give everyone 12 sticks and then give out 8 marshmallows to everyone.I then helped them stick the marshmallows and sticks together to make cubes.Then I gave out napkins and helped them get ready to go home.When they had gone home the teacher gave me copys to do work in;I had to draw lines on 2 pages in each copy,then I had to writ out a few sums in every ones maths copy.

A very Busy Day!

Today I had a very busy day with the senior infants.
This morning when I arrived at work experience I had to go get a laminator;while I was waiting for it to heat up I had to go get the school camera and put sheets into folders.When the laminator was ready I realise it was the wrong size so I had to go get the other one.While  I was waiting to for it to heat up I put away the small laminator.When it was warm enough I laminated a page that said 'happy new year 2013' then I had to take photos of each girl holding the page.
After break I had to go to the pharmacy across the road to get the photos developed;There wast a huge line there and I had to wait ages,when the photos were finally ready I went back to the school and gave the change and receipt to the office.Then I had to stick all the photos onto calenders and cut out things for art.
After lunch I gave out scissors and took the girls in groups of 5 to the art table to do art with them.When they were gone home I took down posters and stuck up art;then I had to put lots of sheets into folders.I had all the folders spread out on the floor and a huge pile of sheets to go into them so it took a long time.

I had a very busy day today but I still had fun with the girls and am looking forward to going back next week!This is the art work that I did with the girls:

Back to Primary School!

Today I went back to my old primary school for my second work experience placement!It was great to be back in my old school;it hasn't changed much since I was there but there is a new building with a new office and now every classroom has an interactive white board.This morning when I arrived at the school the principal told me and the other girls that were there for work experience what we would be doing while we were there.The principal brought me to room 10 so I am doing my work experience in a senior infants class.
Today I got introduced to the class and helped with art.First I set up the art table;so I got to put out paints and paintbrushes.I went to the office to get blue paint and then I took groups of 3 girls to the art table to do paint printing with them.After break I did more painting but this time they were painting pictures about a story they read during the morning so I took them in groups of 5.After lunch I did more painting and when they senior infants went home the teacher had to go to a meeting so I had to clean up the art table and paints;then I had to write out new labels for the crayon boxes and I took down some pictures from the wall.
I had a really good day today in the primary school and I am really looking forward to going back new week!
