A very Busy Day!

Today I had a very busy day with the senior infants.
This morning when I arrived at work experience I had to go get a laminator;while I was waiting for it to heat up I had to go get the school camera and put sheets into folders.When the laminator was ready I realise it was the wrong size so I had to go get the other one.While  I was waiting to for it to heat up I put away the small laminator.When it was warm enough I laminated a page that said 'happy new year 2013' then I had to take photos of each girl holding the page.
After break I had to go to the pharmacy across the road to get the photos developed;There wast a huge line there and I had to wait ages,when the photos were finally ready I went back to the school and gave the change and receipt to the office.Then I had to stick all the photos onto calenders and cut out things for art.
After lunch I gave out scissors and took the girls in groups of 5 to the art table to do art with them.When they were gone home I took down posters and stuck up art;then I had to put lots of sheets into folders.I had all the folders spread out on the floor and a huge pile of sheets to go into them so it took a long time.

I had a very busy day today but I still had fun with the girls and am looking forward to going back next week!This is the art work that I did with the girls:

Back to Primary School!

Today I went back to my old primary school for my second work experience placement!It was great to be back in my old school;it hasn't changed much since I was there but there is a new building with a new office and now every classroom has an interactive white board.This morning when I arrived at the school the principal told me and the other girls that were there for work experience what we would be doing while we were there.The principal brought me to room 10 so I am doing my work experience in a senior infants class.
Today I got introduced to the class and helped with art.First I set up the art table;so I got to put out paints and paintbrushes.I went to the office to get blue paint and then I took groups of 3 girls to the art table to do paint printing with them.After break I did more painting but this time they were painting pictures about a story they read during the morning so I took them in groups of 5.After lunch I did more painting and when they senior infants went home the teacher had to go to a meeting so I had to clean up the art table and paints;then I had to write out new labels for the crayon boxes and I took down some pictures from the wall.
I had a really good day today in the primary school and I am really looking forward to going back new week!

Day 10! My last day :(

 Today was my last day of work experience.
Today I went into the toddler room.There I helped with art;I had to paint the children's hands green to make hand prints to be used to make Christmas trees.After art I got the play-doh off the shelve and divided it up.I was really sticky so we had to put flour on the table.After play-doh since there was loads of flour on the floor I had to go get a brush and I swept the classroom.Then i brought back the brush and helped get ready for Santa.I had to move things out  of the baby room;because that's were Santa was going to be getting photos taken.Then I had to bring the baby's to the other bay room while Santa was there.Then when Santa was ready I brought the baby's down to him in groups of three;they didn't really know what was going on so there was no tears.Then when all the baby's were done I had to bring down the toddlers;and there was a lot of tears with them;some of them didn't even want to go into the room,others screamed when he start saying hohoho.I was a horrible experience.I was stuck in the hallway with 2 crying 2 year old while the teacher brought the other one in to get their photo.After all the toddlers had seen Santa I went back to their room and handed out their lunch;then there was no milk so I had to go upstairs to the kitchen to get some.After their lunch I helped put out their little beds.They looked really cute when they first lay down until 5 minutes later when they all decided they weren't tired.So I had to sit on the floor surrounded by them and try make them all lie down while the teacher filled in their reports.Then I went home for lunch.After my lunch they were all asleep until one little girl started crying;so everyone woke up.So I had to put on everyones shoes while the teacher tided up the beds.After that we got on all their coats and went outside;but hen we got to the yard it was covered in ice so we had to go back in and takeoff all the coats.Then they had story time so I cut out their hand prints while the teacher read to them.It was a very busy day!
I think I am going to miss going to work experience in the creche and Montessori,but I am looking forward to going to the local primary school after Christmas.

Day 9!

Today I was in the Montessori 2.So I helped them with their work this morning.I had to hold up coloured card and ask them what colour it was and they have been learning about the five senses so I had to do work with them about that.I had a picture of a nose,mouth,hand,eye and ear on the table then I held up pictures of people looking trough binoculars and smelling flowers and the children had to put they on the correct sense.I did this activity 5 times with 5 different children and there was 50 cards so it took a long time.After their work they showed me their Christmas play,so i had to stack the chairs while they got ready,and I had to press play and stop on the Cd player.After their play I had to draw 18 circles on yellow card and cut them out for their art.Then I had to go into the other classroom to get matchsticks.After that I helped stick the yellow suns onto blue paper.Then we stuck on the matchsticks,and I returned the bag of matchsticks to the other room.After art I helped zip up some coats because a few of the children were going home.After lunch I sat at the table were the children were drawing so i peared some pencils.The I did bingo with them while the teacher helped the afterschoolers get changed out of their uniform.Then I handed out the safety scissors because they are learning how to cut paper.After cleaning up after cutting I had to get 8 4 year old into coats,hats,gloves and scarfs which was the hardest job in the world.Then we went outside for the rest of the day.
I can't believe next week is our last work experience!But I'm looking forward to it because next Wednesday Santa is coming to the creche and I get to be his helper!!

Day 8!

This morning I helped the children with their Montessori work;I had to jumble up numbers and letters and asked them to point to a letter so they had to find it.Then I handed out cups for snack time;after snack time I watched them do their nativity play and sing their Christmas songs.After their play I arranged the chairs in a circle for circle time;where we discussed the sun and what clothes you wear in the sun.After circle time I helped them trace a swirly line on a snails shell and handed out crayones.After tracing we did jigsaws and did some reading;then I went home for lunch.After lunch I played with the farm animals and after one table did colouring and the other did lego;so I stayed on the lego table and I helped make a house!When we were doing lego a man came in to fix the blind and the radiator cover,so we had to move to the other end of the room so we wouldn't be in his way.After lego we went outside and the other class was out so we played with them.
I can't believe we only have two more weeks left;but I am looking forward to going to my next placement after Christmas!

Day 7!

Today I was in the Montessori rooms.This morning I helped teach the students how to tie their laces.Which was not fun;because they kept making knots that I had to untangle.Then I untangled a huge box of wool for the teacher.After I joined in circle time;and the kids sang the days of the week,the months of the year and he seasons.After circle time I helped them learn about the weather.Then they went outside and I swept the floor and then mopped it.When I was done I went outside where I played a shape game(I had to call out shapes that were painted on the ground and the children had to run to them.)Then we went back inside and they sang Christmas songs and showed me their dance for their Christmas play.After lunch I spent the afternoon playing with Bratz Dolls and dress-up.One girl had 6 hairbands on and another made me do a dolls hair 4 times in a row!After dress up and dolls we went outside again for a little while!

Day 6

Today I was in the toddler room.In the morning I helped the toddlers glue penguins onto cardboard,then I made gloop(which is cornflour and water)for the teacher and handed out bowl.After gloop I helped with pouring and spooning work;so i had to tell the toddlers which hand to use and pick up the seeds that fell off the spoon and wipe up the water that they spilt.Then before I went to have my lunch I read some books.In the afteroon after my lunch I did some colouring with the toddlers and I drew 7 houses for them to colour in;Then they helped me colour in my house.After colouring we went outside to play with the footballs,so I had to zip up everyones coats and put on their hats.We we came back inside we did a puppet show of 'Goldie Locks And The Tree Bears'.
